Landscape SWB Artist

This is a Landscape SWB Artist upright bass.

Purchased used around 2024. I'm selling it because I haven't had many opportunities to use it, and it's mostly just been lightly played in my room (used outdoors only a few times).

Personal Impressions:
I believe many people seek this as a substitute for a double bass.
Honestly, in terms of sound alone, it's like, As expected, it's an upright. Whether it's the neck joint or the body size, its mellow sound is, so to speak, a very high-quality fretless bass. Even when adjusting the mids to be sharper with an external EQ or adding a hollow feel with effects, it sounds somewhat lacking when heard on its own (conversely, it can sound quite good within an ensemble).

However, the charm of this instrument isn't there.

First and foremost, the minimal feedback. It easily overcomes the feedback wall that you'd definitely hit with a double bass + piezo pickup/microphone, and even slight distortion is not a problem. If you're using it in a large ensemble like a big band or wind ensemble, this is a significant advantage.

Furthermore, the string height adjustment mechanism is also a major appeal. With a standard double bass, it takes considerable effort for a craftsman to remove the bridge, shave it, and adjust it. However, with this instrument, you simply turn the adjuster mechanism. Like an electric bass, you can fine-tune the string height to match your condition or desired tone.

If you consider it as an electric instrument that can be played with a double bass form, there's nothing better when considering its appearance and functionality.
