When used normally, the seat would tilt forward when the child was on my back and I adjusted my shoulders, causing the child to bump against my back. To prevent this, I used it by fixing it so it wouldn't close, and by creating and securing a footrest to prevent the child's legs from getting pinched when the carrier closed. If you don't need it, you can remove it and use it normally.
The frame is prone to scratches when placed on the ground, so I wrapped it with thick vinyl tubing, and I believe it is in relatively good condition.
