【Unused, Excellent Condition】Ise Grand Shrine Shikinen Sengu, Carved Wooden Mikihiki-sha (with music box)
This is a miniature of the Okihikisha (wood-pulling cart) used in the 62nd Jingu Shikinen Sengu (rebuilding ceremony) at Ise Jingu Shrine.
??Size: 34 x 14 x 17 cm
??Weight: 455g
The Jingu Shikinen Sengu is the most important ritual at Ise Jingu Shrine, where the shrine buildings and furnishings are newly rebuilt every 20 years.
The Okihiki event is when people carry the sacred timber for the shrine construction on a奉曳車 (houekisha - offering-pulling cart). This event takes place seven and six years before the Sengu.
The wheels and the wooden tags placed on top of the houekisha bear the character 太一 (Taichi) as a symbol of the shrine.
My grandmother purchased this when she participated in the event and it has been stored in its box ever since.
Thank you for your consideration.
