1950s Montblanc 256 Fountain Pen
This is a Montblanc 256, manufactured only between 1957 and 1959. It is the largest model in the 25x series and is a later model featuring a blue ink window, an omitted model number on the barrel end, and a cap band with the Montblanc logo, company name, and model number 256.
It's a thick pen that's easy to hold, and the nib is not too soft, likely adjusted to an F size, making it a very practical pen capable of withstanding hard use.
Pens in this second-line series are already made of acrylic, so there are no worries about material degradation.
There are no noticeable scratches or cracks. It's in very good condition with no common hairline scratches, although there is some wear on the ring of the barrel. The rest is quite clean, likely due to galvanic corrosion between the stainless steel and brass inside the cap. Some gold plating remains, reminiscent of antique folk crafts.
The piston is very clean, and the nib appears to have been adjusted, with a slightly fine and well-executed grind. There is also a caulking-like substance applied to the socket, suggesting it has been well-maintained and carefully used.
The clip has been slightly loosened to prevent stress on the cap top and cap.
The box is actually for display purposes and is not for sale.
