【Beginner Friendly】Winter OK Mexico Dwarf Avocado Small Variety Cuttings for Grafting
Rare: This listing is for one branch of a very rare variety of Mexican avocado (from high-altitude mountainous regions) that is not available in Japanese supermarkets. It was personally brought back from Mexico several years ago.
Key points:
- Unlike fruits imported from overseas that are sometimes listed, this branch comes from a tree that has been cultivated for many years in Japan's climate (northwestern Chiba Prefecture), and is known for its strong resistance to Japanese weather and high success rate.
- Can be grown indoors during winter (it bears fruit even when small, making it convenient regardless of space).
- The current season is ideal for growing from a healthy branch.
- This year's production is extremely low compared to previous years, making it very difficult to obtain.
- Unlike shipments from distant locations like Okinawa, you can expect it to arrive safely without mold or spoilage.
All varieties delivered are treated to promote rooting, so you will see results faster than with seeds taken directly from commercially available frozen or fresh fruit.
Unlike seeds, we have experienced that branches typically bear their first lovely fruit within two years. Proper temperature control, maintaining a minimum of 0°C during winter, is essential. The leaves are evergreen, and because they are cultivated at high altitudes in their native region, they are very cold-hardy. After about 5 years, they can be grown outdoors year-round without issue.
*The avocados commonly found in supermarkets are primarily for export. We understand that these are highly valued locally and are rarely exported.
Ready to plant immediately, there is a very high probability of roots developing and the tree growing quickly. Furthermore, this variety bears fruit even when the tree is less than 1 meter tall. For example, in the Kanto region, the tree is brought indoors during winter for the first 5-6 years, but it prefers direct sunlight outdoors from spring to autumn. We have had many successful cultivations in Chiba, so please feel free to ask any questions. ☆彡
The first image shows the trees currently being cultivated at Himawari Farm.
The second image is for comparison with avocados commonly found in Japanese supermarkets. As you can see, because the seed is small, there is a lot of flesh, and the taste is very rich and delicious.
The third image shows the state of our tree in our home (northwestern Chiba Prefecture) (characterized by bearing fruit even when relatively young and short).
*This is not a registered variety.
*Detailed cultivation instructions will be provided in the message section after purchase. We also offer follow-up support after the transaction is completed. ☆彡
