The large-fruited Ardisia is an evergreen shrublet, a variety of Ardisia japonica (also known as Juryo) that bears red berries in winter. Its leaves and plant size are about one size larger than regular Ardisia japonica, and its plump, large berries make it popular as a New Year's good luck charm and for potted plants.
