Purchased at an antique shop in Tokyo.
I recall being told it might be Chinese or Indonesian.
It was apparently sourced from a collector in Suzhou.
It's said to be a rare wood, but I've forgotten its name.
It's a precious wood known to those in the know.
It's heavy to hold and very sturdy due to its interlocking construction.

The grain and beautiful amber color evoke a sense of great age the more you look at it.
The fastening hardware is also unique and interesting.

Used in a guest room.
Reluctantly, I am parting with it to organize my collection.

It has the characteristic texture of an antique.
The crack on the leg was present at the time of purchase.
The wood is solid and does not wobble (I will leave the protective felt pads as they are).

It's not as perfectly finished as Japanese items, but this gives it a relaxed atmosphere... I hope someone will appreciate its character.
