Japanese Honeybee Attractant 300ml (100ml x 3) Native Species y1003-0004
This is the liquid remaining after boiling down the comb waste from Japanese honeybees after honey extraction and collecting beeswax.
We offer a convenient 3-pack of 100ml bottles, ideal for use as a swarm attractant during swarming season.
These smaller packs are easy to store in the freezer, utilizing any available space.
We strive to ship orders within 2 business days of your application, but please understand that delays may occur due to unforeseen circumstances.
While referred to as a swarm attractant, its primary purpose is to impart a scent to the hive box. Japanese honeybees have a strong tendency to prefer hive boxes with prior nesting experience. For new bait hives, this product can be used to simulate a used hive by applying the scent.
Honeybees have a keen sense of smell, so diluting it with water is perfectly fine.
I personally use it diluted 2 to 4 times.
〈Example Usage Methods〉
?Spray onto the bait hive.
?Apply with a brush.
?Wipe on with a rag or cloth.
?Boil the hive box or frames in a large pot or can filled with water mixed with the attractant, or
?Pour the liquid with a ladle, or apply it with a wooden stick wrapped in cloth.
I used to use a large can initially, but recently I've been taking a shortcut and prefer using a spray. I find it to be sufficiently effective.
In any case, it is often said that mold can grow if not dried thoroughly after treatment. I have never experienced mold growth with this process.
The season for preparing bait hives is often dry, and I believe that placing them outside after treatment will allow them to dry quickly without conscious effort.
This is a natural product. As it is collected by hand, there may be residual wax or impurities mixed in, but please do not be concerned.
If using a spray, it would be advisable to filter it through a cloth to prevent clogging.
We ship at room temperature. If you do not plan to use it all this season, freezing is recommended for storage.
At room temperature, it can ferment, and if the cap is tightly sealed, the container may swell. I have used it even after fermentation, and it remains effective, but mold may form on the surface of the liquid in the container. Therefore, if you do not plan to use it immediately, freezing is the better option. Please understand that even with this attractant, beeswax, and a lure, the success rate of attracting a swarm is not 100%. Even with thorough preparation, the entry rate is said to be 10-20% for beginners and up to 30% for experienced beekeepers. Nevertheless, as experienced beekeepers know, the joy of a successful swarm capture is exceptional. It is a truly unique and moving experience. I sincerely wish for the success of all who purchase this product.
