The FT-301 series, a high-quality all-solid-state transceiver for amateur radio, includes the analog dial FT-301, the digital dial FT-301D, and their respective 10W models FT-301S and FT-301SD. These cover all amateur bands from 160m to 10m and can transmit and receive SSB (L.SB, USB), AM, CW, and FSK (RTTY), as well as receive with selectable intermediate frequencies.
The circuit configuration, as rated, is fully semiconductorized from the receiver to the final transmission stage, incorporating the latest technologies such as FETs and ICs. It can be operated immediately after powering on and offers excellent frequency stability.
The transmitter employs a wideband amplification method using large transistors with high collector loss and good linearity in the final stage. By simply switching bands and adjusting TUNE to optimize reception sensitivity, you can transmit and receive without the hassle of final stage tuning for each band change. Furthermore, the adoption of protection circuits safeguards the transistors from damage due to antenna circuit failures, demonstrating a robust design.
The high-frequency circuit utilizes the well-established direct tuning method, and with the new knobs, tuning can be performed at approximately 16kHz per rotation, allowing for fine adjustments during mobile operation or delicate channel selection. Combined with a stable 500kHz width VFO, the FT-301/FT-301S allows direct reading up to 1kHz on the analog dial, while the FT-301D/FT-301SD allows direct reading up to 100Hz on the digital dial.
The intermediate frequency amplifier circuit is equipped with a crystal-resonated notch filter (REJECT) for effective interference suppression.
An active filter is incorporated into the receiver's low-frequency amplifier circuit, cutting off high frequencies above 3kHz to improve clarity and reduce interference.
The noise blanker utilizes a new noise detection circuit, capable of completely eliminating even small pulse-like noises below 1 microvolt, enabling clear, noiseless reception.
The clarifier allows you to move only the receive frequency around the dial frequency, or you can move both transmit and receive frequencies.
