[A Masterpiece from a Renowned Kettle Maker]
This is a Karatane (bronze alloy) brazier, an essential item for the tea ceremony.
Based on the inscription and seal on the box, it is believed to be a piece made or supervised by Onishi Sosen, who is highly regarded as a kettle maker from the Senke Jisshoku (Ten Great Families of Tea Ceremony).
The Shippo Jimon (cloisonné pattern) carved on the sides is exceptionally beautiful and emits an elegant luster. The brazier comes with ash and a gotoku (tripod stand) inside, ready for immediate use.
